The init System
A user's environment can be customized and made more friendly by the
presence of various initialization files in the user's home directory,
such as .cshrc and .xsession
and .bashrc .
CTS supplies a set of files which provide a standard enviroment, which
the user may further customize by creating .cshrc.mine or bashrc.mine.
The system is designed
so that once it has been installed, CTS's future enhancements to the
standard
environment will be inherited automatically by the user's customized
environment.
Installation
You can install the standard files by entering the command
/pkg/cts/init/install
on an CTS-administered UNIX system. This command will show you a list
of
files to be installed, and ask for confirmation. If you answer y,
it will back up any existing files with the same name in a
subdirectory,
and, if the backup was successful, it will install the new files. It
will
tell you where it put the old files.
Customization
Each of the files installed contains comments describing how to
customize
them, except for the file .pkgrc or .lpkg for linux (see the
pkg
Interface).
